VALENCIA DAY 1

For my 21st birthday, Caleb bought me tickets to go and visit him in Valencia, so in June I went over, and we made a couple of videos. Now, the journey did not go as smoothly as one might assume, my flight was ultimately delayed overnight, and I had to get the Gatwick Express home, sleep for a few hours, and hop back on the train and catch a 7am flight, doosty. In the end they compensated for the trip over twice the price of the ticket - so it was sort of okay I guess...

Seeing Caleb in Valencia was exiting, I hadn't seen him for half a year and honestly, trying to keep up the Beefy dream in Leeds when I was the only person in Leeds, was hard. So it was really exciting to have the chance to see what he was up to in Spain and catch some rays, basically; although I have no experience in film making I thought it would be a fun project to try and make a video a day when we were together, just so we could do something Beefy Squarmsy, so I focussed on that and tried to finish each video by the end of the following day.

My technique in making these was to record the things that were of interest to me, and then to later cut the bits I felt were not necessary until I had a roughly 3-minute video, then I would look through my playlist for songs which were of the same length of time as my footage, and compile them together. Mostly out of laziness, I decided to make all of the videos black and white, so that whatever happened, at least there was a sense of uniformity. jheeze.

VALENCIA DAY 3 PT.1

I think that we didn't get up to much on Day 2, was a lazy day - so I waited until Day 3 which was quite busy, we split it into two parts.

In this video we went to see Ellen's beautiful apartment in Valencia, it's funny watching that now when I think I'd only met her once before or so, and now she is our housemate!

This day was spent wandering around but without picking up too much luggage, we had decided to try and get into a festival later on in the day, but at this point in time we only had one wristband between the two of us.

I found going to the Spanish supermarket potentially too exciting, but I think supermarkets are a really cool thing to compare when you go abroad - don't you think? We bought some delicious peach liquor and tings as we decided what we were going to do about getting into the festival.

VALENCIA DAY 3 PT.2

I began making this video when I got into the festival, I was waiting with Leo for Ellen to come back with Caleb and the wristband, but no such luck. Ellen returned empty handed and we knew that Caleb's phone was on rationed battery life, but thank fuck at around 40secs in we randomly bumped into him, bad bois!

Was a pretty bizarre line-up at this festival ngl, but it was fun of course to do something like this and meet some Spanish peeps! Weird to see The Drums live in 2016, I guess it made me realise I'd not thought about how these indie-bands were sustaining a living, but I guess it really is playing in Spain at 3am kinds of things... das orite init.

VALENCIA DAY 4

Day 4 was the last day of recording, and this day was hard - we were so so so hungover.

As we'd all planned in advance, we were going to drive to the Mountains but following the festival, we were feeling not so fresh. Going to the lovely water and taking in the epic views was divine, but I think it's fair to say that I look pretty sleepy in this one haha, and my plan to take virtually nothing to Valencia worked out for me, but I just got clocked wearing my dungarees erryday.
