Hey! really enjoyed coming down to speak to you guys cheers for having me…
Here's a lil insight to the selection as we mainly spoke about the art side of things I feel like theres so much more to discuss and an hour simply wasn’t enough time… Especially when I have the tendency to babble…
So 12 songs 1 hour how do I go about selecting these... I gave myself some constraints and rules because I’m indecisive enough as it is and I like a lot of music; a tune that related to a routine of mine or a memory, I actually really enjoyed the selection process as it was personal, just a real mix of my favourites and digging back into tunes that I have missed and forgotten about as well was fun…
Track 1- Zenit - Waitin'
A recent discovery found after listening to this NTS show called 150 Sessions and originally finding this song off the show- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=catISdiIv1s Then youtube brought me this beauty, it helped me get up in the morning and now I seem to naturally want to play it when I wake up. I don’t think it will ever get old, toooo good.
Track 2 - Wheelers and Deelers - Irene Kral
Found a few years back on dis magical mix you’re a melody floating points, this mix for me nevvvvver gets old still wikid after 1000 plays… https://soundcloud.com/floatingpoints/youre-a-melody-1
Track 3 - Blood - Fila Brazillia
Thanks to Raf for showing me this looovely album Mess - Fila Brazillia. These two geezas from Hull put together these beautiful cross pollinate tunes taking your head on a journey when I was on a journey... This album was pretty damn good for when I was travelling this summer, long coaches, waits transitions etc check it.
Watch the episode:
Track 4 - Tiempo de solea - Ojos de burjo
I explained the short version of this story on the show… But yeah hearing this tune was something that stood out for me music wise when travelling over summer, it's interesting to just listen to something completely out of context just sitting back and enjoying the pure sounds of where I was I guess in that moment- mountain radio Andorra ?
Track 5 - Digable Planets - The May 4th Movement
The album this tune is off - Blow Out Comb is hands down my favourite hip-hop album! I don’t know a huge amount about hip-hop but love the 90s stuff especially the muffled jazz sounds n tones within this album, perfect for cycling (shouldn’t listen to music when cycling it's stupid and dangerous but if I were to pick an album perfect for it I'd choose this one).
Track 6 - Alex - I gotta feel something
Another one from you’re a melody floating points I had forgotten it was even on the mix then Raf with all the bangers played it earlier this year and it's just delightful.
